Open Source Bridge

I’ve been a software developer since 1985, starting with programming in C, then C++, until today when I program in Python, C#, a little Javascript and PHP. Most of the time I worked with the Microsoft stack of technologies and over the past year have been programming a lot in open-source technologies including Django for web apps. The 2008 Presidential election was so important to me that I have taken an interest in President Obama’s commitment to government transparency. Learning from the Sunlight Labs organization, I have discovered open-source APIs and bulk data downloads that are early steps towards a blossoming of public data and citizen-led programmatic interfaces to our governments’ information.
