Karen is the Event Marketing Manager at The Linux Foundation. She works on event marketing campaigns to drive more attendees to the Linux Foundation’s core conferences. She wants to help members from other open source communities round up more attendees to their conferences and meetups with tips and best practices learned from her experience working with open source events at Citrix, Pivotal and The Linux Foundation. On the weekends, you can find Karen backpacking in the different forests of Northern California, cycling on Highway 1 or bungee jumping off bridges.

With the growth of open source comes the need for more conferences, meetups and hackathons – you name it! These events give community members the opportunity to interact face-to-face to solve problems, come up with new ideas, or even just to chat and get to know each other better. But, the question is – how do we get developers, users and contributors from open source communities to these events?
