Leandro A. F. Pereira tinkers with computers since 8 years old. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering by PUC Campinas, is a Senior Developer at Intel Open Source Technology Center, and a co-founding member of Laboratório Hacker de Campinas, a hackerspace in São Paulo countryside.
He wrote some assorted utilities, with the most known being HardInfo and SuxPanel. He also contributed to projects like Claws Mail, WebKit, and the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries. He has recently gained interest in writing a web server and eventually blogs about it.

Viewing from above, a web server isn't a particularly difficult piece of software: requests come in, responses come out. When high performance and scalability are desired, though, it is a completely different story. This talk will tell the story of Lwan, a web server written from scratch, and some of the tricks involved in making it as fast as it is.
