Wireless Communication with an Open Source Software Radio

Accepted Session
Short Form
Scheduled: Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 3:45 – 4:30pm in B301

You use wireless technology every day. Do you want to know how it works?

Unless you’re the Unabomber, you used wireless technology today — a lot! But how much do you know about it, really?

  • Learn the basics of radio communication, and how cell phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, digital television, GPS (and more!) work.
  • See some open source radio hardware and software and learn about how it can improve the way we communicate.
  • Consider the implications of building our society around this technology.

I’ll pepper the presentation with demos of hardware and software I’ve built for exploring wireless technology.

Speaking experience

I have not given this talk before -- at the moment, it doesn't exist...
