Excerpt

Experiences balancing Open Source Community and a viable vendor/consultancy model to promote a sustainable eco-system.

Description

This talk will share my experiences over more than a decade of working with OpenEMR, and now with the LibreHeatlh.io project, running as a viable services vendor in tandem with an active open source community, while trying to balance both interests (“profit” of the consultancy along with sustainability of the OSS project).

I have helped start and mentor dozens of other vendors and fostered straight-up volunteer community contributions and I wish to share the successes and failures in both areas.

More recent opportunities have been merging two diverse communities that forked from OpenEMR and OpenMRS into one new community with a need to build a strong eco-system in a new way that can work internationally.
