Back to Making the Future: Recovering from Data Addiction

Short Form

Spending our time consuming data lets us get really effective at it, but every optimization has a cost. By optimizing for consumption, we sacrifice our ability to create.

Today’s world is rife with data, and many of us have jumped in head-first to
enjoy everything the Internet has to offer. From Facebook, Twitter, Digg,
Reddit, Hacker News, Wikipedia and so many other sources, you can binge on all
the obscure facts and up-to-the-minute information you’ve always craved.

But at what cost?

In this session, we’ll discuss the unspoken tradeoffs inherent in modern life
and talk about some concrete steps towards recovery from data addiction.
