Open source doesn’t have to be just for software! Everyone knows that 3 out of 4 new jobs are created by small businesses, but our current efforts to revive the economy mostly benefit large, dinosaur-like businesses, and many of our efforts to help small businesses don’t work very well. How can we adapt some of the principles that underly open source, and apply them to small businesses to help them get started?

Biography
Wm Leler is the director of Open Tech Space. He has started a number of technology companies, written two books on computer graphics and computer languages, delivered talks at numerous conferences, and taught courses on parallel computing, computer graphics, and advanced programming. He holds a PhD in Computer Science, as well as degrees in Fine Arts and Electrical Engineering. He spends a lot of his time helping start-up companies succeed. In his spare time he runs a political blog, travels, takes photographs, and plays music.
