  • Curated presentation groups (fits presentation slot, assigned by us–not by proposal)
  • Mini-conference sessions (schedule detail–collated from existing presentations)
  • Unconference sessions (not pre-scheduled)

Curation/Curator responsibilities

  • Select curators for content areas and session times
  • Curators will introduce a session and explain the rationale behind talk choices

Speaker solicitation

  • Create a potential speaker list that emphasizes diversity: culture, gender, economic, age
  • Develop a selection process that includes diversity in the selection criteria

Submission review team

  • Coordinate with IT on conference management system & use for papers
  • Develop workflow for contacting authors, asking questions, confirming talks
  • Create a call for presentations to send to the public

Coordinate un-conference sessions

  • Determine schedule
  • Facilitate un-conference pitches

The way I see it, there are two “meta-themes” at work here:

1. Show the world how awesome PDX is in the Open Source world
2. Bring in people in the Open Source communities that have something to teach PDX (and everyone else, of course)

If you accept that (please say something if you don't), maybe there should be separate “recruitment”, calls for proposals, etc., to appeal to potential PDX presenters and presenters from, say, Illinois, New Jersey, Denmark, or Palo Alto.?
