Our Call for Proposals deadline inspired quite a few of you to share your proposals with us:

And caused at least one citizen to complain:

We wish that Robert lived closer to Portland too!

After some thought, we decided to extend the proposal deadline one last time. While Thursday night deadlines fit perfectly into our PDX Hackathon schedule of happy-hour-to-midnight weekly get togethers, maybe a few of you could use the weekend to collect your thoughts and submit a proposal.

You now have until 11:59pm PDT on March 29th (Monday) to send us your proposals.

Have an idea you’ve been tossing around? Send it in. Have a friend or colleague you’d like to see present? Poke and prod ‘em to submit a talk. We want to hear from all of you.

Also, the more we know about what you want to see at Open Source Bridge, the better. Let us know what content you are most looking forward to by commenting on the proposed talks. Your feedback is an essential part of our talk selection process.

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to register for the conference. The Early Bird rate of $225 is available through April 1st. After that ticket prices are $300.

Yes, you. You had that really, really good idea for an Open Source Bridge talk. But somehow, time just got away from you. And now you’re thinking that you probably won’t complete it before midnight tonight.

Oh yes, we know you all too well.

Well, buck up little camper. We’ve got a ray of sunshine for you. Even though we’ve been lucky enough to receive more than 100 proposals so far, we still want to read yours. Because we think you have something incredibly important to say. Something that the open source citizens of the world deserve to hear. And because of that, we’re going to do something for you.

The deadline for submissions has now been extended until 11:59 PM, April 10, 2009. Just for good measure we’re extending the $175 early bird registration rate until April 10, as well.

Huzzah! So now you have no excuse. And your idea is really good.

Please finish and submit your proposal. And while you’re at it, please register to attend.

April 10, you. And that’s final.

We are happy to announce that the Open Source Bridge Call for Proposals is now open!

We would love to hear all of those interesting ideas you have in your head—and so would everyone else. That’s why we will be accepting your proposals for Open Source Bridge talks through March 31.

What kind of proposals, you ask? Open Source Bridge strives to be a different kind of open source conference. One that welcomes all open source languages, platforms, and pursuits while embracing responsible open source citizenship. As such, we’ve worked to craft categories that allow people to share their thoughts and ideas, independent of their chosen development methods.

Those categories include:

Cooking: Crafting useful recipes for software development, systems administration, and working with open source.

Chemistry: Understanding how our systems work, in order to improve and extend.

Business: Building open source businesses that thrive.

Culture: Exploring how open source extends through technology into our communities.

Hacks: Tinkering, experimenting and bending the rules to make hardware and software do what we want.

Need more details? See the guidance for submitting a proposal.

So what are you waiting for? We’d love to hear what you have to say. Begin creating your proposal today.
