Join Us Tuesday for Community Hack Night

IMG_4292bPlease join us on the first evening of the conference, Tuesday, in the Hacker Lounge, for a night of community hacking.

  • When: Tuesday, 6/26, 6:30pm-9:30pm
  • Where: Hacker Lounge (sponsored by Intel)

We’ll serve snacks and beer and the following groups will be present and eager to get you hacking on their projects:

Intel — Various Open Source Projects

Intel runs a lot of open source projects, and some of them will be on deck in the Hacker Lounge.

Mozilla Boot 2 Gecko (Firefox Phone)

There will be B2G phones to play with and t-shirts. You can find more information about the project on Mozilla’s wiki and on MDN.

Wikimedia Foundation

The Visual Editor team will have just released their prototype to a test wiki, so they’re looking for nitpickers to flush out bugs before we deploy to sites that millions of people use. They’ll also be happy to help people learn how to use JavaScript to customize personal Wikipedia experience with JavaScript userscripts and Gadgets, or integrate Wikimedia data into their apps using the MediaWiki API. Target audience: curious folks with analytical minds (for testing), JavaScript-knowledgable web developers (for the customizing), and developers of all sorts (to learn the API).

Lockpick Village

Kenny McElroy will entertain people with very familiar little mechanical puzzles that most people use on a regular basis: locks!

Carbon/PowerShell

Aaron Jenson will lead a hackfest on PowerShell-related stuff, including Carbon, a PowerShell DevOps module for setup automation.

Hacking for All Levels

Never hacked on an open source project before? Battle-tested open source contributor? Somewhere in between? You are all welcome to participate! The event is open to all badge holders, including those with a Community Pass (free). Please register ahead of time if you would like to attend.

How Can My Group Participate?

We have spots for a few other groups. If you’d like to be included, let us know at hackerlounge@opensourcebridge.org.

And, of course, the Hacker Lounge will be open for general hacking all day until at least 10:30pm, so stop on by!
